The bundled dataset — names, capitals, populations, areas, currencies, languages, codes,
neighbours, outlines and editorial notes — is compiled from public reference sources and is
provided for general information. Figures such as population are estimates and go
out of date; we correct what we find but cannot promise the data is complete, current or free of
error.
On borders, names and status. Some territories are disputed, and some entries are recognised
by some states and not others. Listing an entry, drawing an outline, assigning it to a continent or
naming a neighbour is a cartographic and editorial convenience drawn from public datasets —
never a legal, political or diplomatic position, and implies no view on sovereignty or on
any boundary. Ten countries appear under both Europe and Asia for the same practical reason, which
the app explains in Settings.
