Who we are
In shortAddress Finder is made by an independent developer. This policy covers the app and any message you send us.
Address Finder (“the app”) is developed and published by OZ (“we”, “us”, or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how the app handles information when you use it on iPhone or iPad, and how we handle information you send us directly, such as a support email.
We designed Address Finder so that the information you keep in it stays on your device and under your control. We have no access to it. For the limited personal data we do receive from you, described in When you contact us, we are the data controller under Türkiye’s Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK), where we are based, and under laws such as the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
You can reach us at thehelloworld.apps@gmail.com. Full contact details, including our website, are in Contact us.
What we collect: nothing
In shortNothing you put into Address Finder is sent to us. There’s no account, no server of ours, and no analytics.
In this policy, to “collect” information means to send it off your device in a way that lets us, or a company working for us, access it. By that standard, Address Finder does not collect any personal data through the app:
- There is no account, sign-in, or registration.
- The app doesn’t connect to any server we operate. Its only network connections are to Apple services built into iOS, described in Apple services the app uses.
- The app contains no analytics, advertising, attribution, crash-reporting, or tracking software, and no third-party software development kits (SDKs).
- The app doesn’t use your device’s advertising identifier and never asks for permission to track you.
- We don’t sell, rent, or trade personal information, and we don’t share it for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising.
This matches the privacy manifest built into the app, which declares that it collects no data and does not track.
What stays on your device
In shortEverything you save stays in the app’s private storage on your device. Here is the complete list, how long each item is kept, and how to remove it.
Address Finder keeps the following information in its own storage on your device, which iOS keeps separate from other apps. We cannot see or access any of it.
Saved places
Each place’s name, postal address, apartment or floor, map pin and optional entrance pin, category (such as Home or Work), favorite status, collection, custom pin color and icon, arrival notes, and the dates it was added and changed.
- Kept
- Until you delete it. Deleted places wait in Recently Deleted for 30 days.
- To remove
- Delete the place, or use Delete all local data.
Photo arrival guides Pro
Only photos you pick with Apple’s photo picker. Each is resized and saved as a new image, which leaves out details embedded in the original file, such as where the photo was taken.
- Kept
- With the place it belongs to.
- To remove
- Remove the photo in the place editor, or delete the place.
Collections Pro
The names, colors, and icons of the collections you create.
- Kept
- Until you delete the collection.
- To remove
- Delete it in Saved, or use Delete all local data.
Recent searches
Your last 8 map searches and last 6 Nearby searches, so you don’t have to type them again.
- Kept
- Until newer searches replace them, or you clear them.
- To remove
- Clear recent searches in the app’s Settings tab.
Preferences
Language, appearance, distance units, map style, how Saved is sorted, your Quick finds, the Nearby search radius, and whether you’ve seen the introduction.
- Kept
- Until you change them or delete the app.
- To remove
- Change them in the app, or delete the app.
App bookkeeping
Small technical records the app needs to work correctly, such as when a place was last added (to apply the free plan’s 10-place allowance fairly) and whether places from Address Finder 2 have been brought across.
- Kept
- Until you delete the app.
- To remove
- Delete the app.
Spotlight and Siri
The names, addresses, and pins of your saved places, added to your device’s search index so you can find them in Spotlight and ask Siri for directions. The index lives on your device.
- Kept
- Updated as your library changes. Deleted places are removed.
- To remove
- Delete the place, or turn off search for the app in iOS Settings.
Information used only for a moment
Some information is used only while you’re using the app, and isn’t saved unless you choose to save a place: your current location and its address, search suggestions and results, nearby places, travel times, and Look Around imagery. To keep repeated searches quick, Nearby results and travel times are held in the app’s memory for up to five minutes, and they’re gone when the app closes.
If you used Address Finder 2
The first time version 3 opens on a device that had Address Finder 2, it reads version 2’s database, which is already on your device, and copies your places and your appearance, distance, and language settings into the new library. Nothing is sent anywhere. The old database is left in place as a safety net, and is removed when you use Delete all local data or delete the app. For places that came across without a map pin, the app looks up their address with Apple Maps to place the pin (see Apple services the app uses).
If your library can’t be opened
In the rare case that the app’s database can’t be opened, for example after a failed update, you can choose to start with an empty library. The unreadable files are then set aside in a dated folder on your device rather than deleted, so they can still be recovered. They stay on your device until you delete the app.
Your location
In shortLocation is optional. It’s used only while you’re using the app, never in the background, and it’s never stored unless you save a place.
Address Finder asks for permission to use your location While Using the App. It asks the first time you ask the app to find where you are, for example by tapping Find my address or Show my location, searching Nearby around your location, or asking Siri to find your address or places nearby. It doesn’t ask when you first open the app. When you allow it, the app uses your location to:
- show your current street address, with how accurate and how recent it is;
- find places near you and show their distance and direction;
- estimate walking and driving times from where you are;
- show where you are on the map;
- show how far away your saved places are, and list the closest first.
To find your address or search nearby, the app asks iOS for your position once and then stops. Once you’ve allowed access, the map also shows where you are while it’s on screen, as Apple Maps does. The app never uses your location in the background and doesn’t keep a record of where you’ve been. It uses your latest position for up to 15 minutes to show distances to your saved places, keeps it only in memory, and forgets it when the app closes. To look up an address or search nearby, your coordinates are sent to Apple (see Apple services the app uses). The app doesn’t store them unless you save the address as a place, and they are never sent to us.
Address Finder works with Precise Location turned off, though addresses will be less exact. If you don’t allow location access at all, you can still search for addresses, drop pins on the map, and use Nearby around the area you’re looking at or around any saved place. You can change your choice at any time in Settings › Apps › Address Finder › Location, or in Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services.
Permissions the app does and doesn’t ask for
| Permission | What Address Finder does |
|---|---|
| Location, while using the app | Asked when neededOptional. Used as described above. |
| Location, always or in the background | Never |
| Contacts | NeverTo fill in an address from Contacts, the app shows Apple’s contact picker, which runs separately from the app. The app receives only the name and address of the contact you choose, and reads nothing else. |
| Photos | NeverApple’s photo picker gives the app only the photo you pick. |
| Camera and microphone | Never |
| Notifications | NeverThe app sends no notifications. |
| Tracking | NeverThe app doesn’t track you, so it never shows the App Tracking Transparency prompt. |
Apple services the app uses
In shortMaps, searches, and purchases are provided by Apple. When you use them, Apple receives what it needs to answer, such as a search or a location, under Apple’s own privacy policy.
Address Finder is built on services that come with iOS. When you use the features below, your device contacts Apple directly. The information doesn’t pass through us, and we have no access to it. Apple handles it under the Apple Privacy Policy and, for maps, Apple Maps & Privacy.
| When you use | Apple receives |
|---|---|
| The map | The area of the map you’re viewing, to load map imagery. |
| Search and suggestions | The text you type, as you type it, and the area of the map you’re viewing. Your saved places are searched on your device and aren’t sent. |
| Address lookups | The coordinates of your location, or of a pin you drop or move, to find the address there. An address you type or choose from Contacts, or one brought over without a pin, to find where its pin goes. |
| Nearby | The kind of place or the words you search for, and the center and radius of the area you search. |
| Travel times and directions | The starting point and the place you choose. Directions open in the Apple Maps app. |
| Look Around and place details | The location of the place you’re viewing, to show street imagery and Apple’s place information. |
| Address cards Pro | The location of the place, to draw the map image on the card. |
| Purchases | Handled by the App Store, as described below. |
Purchases and subscriptions
Address Finder Pro is sold and billed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles your payment details and your Apple Account; we never receive your name, email address, or payment information. To unlock Pro, the app checks the signed purchase records that Apple’s StoreKit keeps on your device, and it doesn’t send them to us. Apple gives developers sales and subscription reports that don’t identify individual customers. See App Store & Privacy.
Siri, Shortcuts, and Spotlight
Address Finder’s Siri and Shortcuts actions run in the app on your device. When you speak to Siri, Apple processes the request as described in Siri, Dictation & Privacy. So that you can say things like “Get directions to Home”, the names of your saved places are made available to Siri. Actions such as Get Address hand a place’s address to the Shortcuts app, and what a shortcut does with it after that is up to you.
Device backups
If you back up your device with iCloud Backup or to a computer, iOS may include Address Finder’s data in that backup, depending on your settings. Those backups are managed by you and Apple. Address Finder itself doesn’t use iCloud, and doesn’t sync your places between devices.
Crash reports and App Store statistics
If you’ve chosen to share analytics with app developers (Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements › Share With App Developers), Apple may give us crash reports and diagnostic information about the app. Apple also gives developers aggregated statistics, such as numbers of downloads and sessions, from people who agreed to share them. This information doesn’t tell us who you are. We use it only to find and fix problems and to understand how the app is doing overall. You can stop sharing at any time in the same setting.
When you contact us
In shortIf you email us, we use your message only to help you, and delete it when it’s no longer needed.
If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you choose to write or attach. We use this only to reply to you, to fix problems you report, and to keep a record of our conversation. Where the GDPR applies, our legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering you, or taking steps you’ve asked us to take.
We keep support emails only as long as we need them for these purposes, and delete them within 24 months of our last exchange unless the law requires us to keep them longer. Our email provider, Google (Gmail), stores them on our behalf.
Please don’t send us a backup file, screenshots, or other details containing addresses unless we need them to solve your problem. If you do, we’ll use them only for that, and delete them once it’s solved.
Keeping and deleting your data
In shortYour data stays until you delete it. Delete all local data clears your library in one step, and deleting the app removes everything.
Because your information is on your device, you decide how long it’s kept:
- Delete a place and it moves to Recently Deleted, where you can restore it for 30 days. After that, it’s removed for good, with its photo, the next time you open the app. You can also remove it sooner from Recently Deleted.
- Delete all local data, in the app’s Settings tab, permanently removes all places, collections, notes, photos, Recently Deleted, recent searches, and any database left by Address Finder 2. Your preferences, such as language and appearance, stay until you change them or delete the app. This can’t be undone, so export a backup first if you want to keep anything.
- Delete the app and iOS removes all of Address Finder’s data from your device, including its Spotlight entries.
Deleting data in the app doesn’t affect copies outside it, such as backup files you exported, things you shared, or device backups made earlier. Deleting the app doesn’t cancel a subscription; see the Terms of Use for how to cancel.
Security
In shortYour data is protected by iOS’s app sandbox and your device passcode. Keep backup files somewhere safe.
Address Finder stores its data inside its own app container, which iOS keeps separate from other apps. When your device has a passcode, iOS encrypts the app’s files with Data Protection. Purchases are checked against Apple’s cryptographically signed records, and the app never unlocks Pro from a record it can’t verify.
Information outside the app is only as protected as the place you keep it. Exported backup files aren’t encrypted, so keep them somewhere private. No method of storage is perfectly secure, but because we hold no copy of your places, there is no central database of Address Finder users’ places that could be breached.
Children
Address Finder is a general-audience utility and isn’t directed at children under 13, or under the minimum age set by the law where they live. The app collects no personal data from anyone, including children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we’ll delete it. Parents can manage a child’s purchases with Apple’s Ask to Buy and Screen Time.
Your rights and choices
In shortYou can see, correct, export, and delete your data in the app at any time. For anything we hold, such as an email you sent, just ask.
Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR and UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act and other US state privacy laws, Brazil’s LGPD, Canada’s PIPEDA, and Türkiye’s KVKK give you rights over your personal data. They can include the right to access it, correct it, delete it, receive a copy in a portable format, restrict or object to its use, and withdraw consent.
You never have to give us personal information to use Address Finder, and we don’t make automated decisions about you or build profiles of you. For information in the app, you can use these rights yourself, at any time, without asking us:
- See and correct: view and edit every place in the app.
- Take it with you: export a backup, a standard JSON file, from the app’s Settings tab.
- Delete: delete places, clear recent searches, or delete all local data.
- Location: turn location access off in iOS Settings.
- Crash reports: turn off Share With App Developers in iOS Settings.
For information we hold, such as emails you’ve sent us, contact us at thehelloworld.apps@gmail.com. We’ll respond within one month, or sooner if your local law requires it. We may need to confirm that a request comes from you, and we won’t treat you differently for using your rights. If you’re in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. In Türkiye, you can apply to the Personal Data Protection Board (KVKK Kurulu) after first contacting us.
For residents of California and other US states
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we haven’t done so in the past 12 months. We don’t use or disclose sensitive personal information for any purpose that would give you a right to limit it. Because the app collects no personal information, there is nothing for us to sell or share. For the same reason, there is no tracking for Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals to turn off, in the app or on this page.
Legal bases under the KVKK and the GDPR
We rely on our legitimate interests to answer your messages and to keep the app reliable using the crash reports Apple provides with your permission (KVKK Article 5(2)(f); GDPR Article 6(1)(f)), and on legal obligations where we are required to keep records (KVKK Article 5(2)(ç); GDPR Article 6(1)(c)).
International transfers
The information in the app isn’t transferred anywhere: it stays on your device. Apple may process the requests your device sends to its services in other countries, under its own privacy policy. We are based in Türkiye. Emails you send us are stored by our email provider, Google, which may keep them in countries other than Türkiye and other than yours. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers, such as standard contractual clauses.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Address Finder handles information, we’ll update this policy and the effective date at the top. If a change is significant, for example a future optional feature such as syncing through iCloud, we’ll explain it in the app or in the app’s release notes before it takes effect, and ask for your consent where the law requires it. Earlier versions of this policy are available on request.
